Theo Jr. and the beneficiary's of his brother Berthold acquired one of the globe's great retail wealth, which stepped up from a corner grocery store at Essen, Germany in 1913. Following the World War II Theo's Father together with his sibling, took the control of the store and proliferate the discount rebellion in German's growing retail constructing their supermarket on the basis of no-frills, with low price association to Wal-Mart. The store was segmented in 1961 Karl got the stores in Southern Germany along with Aldi brand in UK and Theo.Sr got stores in the Northern Germany and the rest of Europe. The traded is overseen through the family Foundation which was formed by Theo.Sr. He owned the Trader Joe's Specialty grocery in America. Theo Sr. left the supermarkets Aldi Nord and Joe's Trader to his two sons and died at the age of 88 in 2010 and karl died in 2014, leaving the ownership to his heirs who is not known personally. Theo Jr. and his mother are the chair persons of the board of their family foundation.
